Sticky’s Story
Finding Inspiration in Every Bite
Mr. Sticky’s® Inc. started as a family business created and operated by Phil Poorman, his wife, and four children. In the beginning, the family prepared and served food in the Boarding House Restaurant at the Grange Fair and Encampment located in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania. A well known Sugar Valley baker, who was a cook at the restaurant, shared a sticky bun recipe with Phil. After several months reworking the recipe, an EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE STICKY BUN appeared on the breakfast buffet at the fair. As is often said, “The rest is history.” However, let us tell you the rest of the story.
Mr. Sticky’s complete bakery on wheels first appeared in May 2000 at the Citizens Hose Firemen’s Carnival in Jersey Shore, PA. Mr. Sticky’s concession trailer baked very sticky, sticky buns from scratch with the prep work and baking done inside the concession trailer. Mr. Sticky’s concession trailer was soon serving buns along Route 220 in Linden, PA. Folks were stopping by to purchase buns by the dozen and half dozen for office treats, birthdays, holidays, gifts, and celebrations of all kinds. Sticky buns were no longer just for breakfast anymore. It wasn’t long before a second concession trailer was on the road with both trailers featuring fresh coffee and Mr. Sticky’s Homemade Sticky Buns.
Due to year-round demand and the cold weather during winter time, especially when baking starts at 4 o’clock in the morning, it became obvious that Mr. Sticky’s needed a permanent location. The first Mr. Sticky’s, Inc. location is located in the Golden Plaza, at 1948 East Third St, Williamsport, PA.
Fast forward a few years, new Mr. Sticky's® are opening around the country. The first stand alone franchise opening in Pottstown PA and our first mall location in Greenville NC., Mr. Sticky's could be opening up a location near you!
Expanding into its' own coffee line, the Mr. Sticky's Signature Blend® is available at our locations and to purchase. Mr. Sticky's Signature Blend® consists of composable K-Pods for Keurig Machines, 2 oz. packages for drip coffee machines, and 12 oz. whole bean coffee bags for you to take home. So whether you need a cup of outstanding coffee or one of the four main varieties of buns, it is hard to decide which is the best. Will your favorite be the “Original," the “Walnut," the "Raisin", or the “Cinnamon Bun” loaded with Mr. Sticky’s® own vanilla cream cheese or peanut butter icing? Come in, indulge, and you decide.
Phil Stuck opened the Mechanicsburg Mr. Sticky’s after retiring from a 35 year military career. He enjoyed them over many hunting trips to Potter County, PA, as he, family, and friends would pick up a box of Mr. Sticky’s buns on the way. It was not long when he knew he had to bring these delicious goodies to Central PA.
